Policies

Transfer Policy

Campers are welcome to transfer to any session that has availability.

Credit and Refund Policy Timeline

To deliver the high-quality programs families expect, our cancellation policy protects the integrity of our staffing, facilities, and advance planning. Because we incur significant non-refundable costs before the season begins, the following policy applies if your plans change:

Before March 18th, 2026

  • Cancellations receive 50% refund of the tuition paid.
  • The remaining 50% is issued as credit for any available 2026 or 2027 D.C. United Summer Camps session.

On or After March 18th, 2026 

  • Cancellations receive 100% credit to use toward available 2026 or 2027 sessions.
  • No refunds will be issued after this date.

Inclement Weather

If a camp day is canceled due to weather, families will receive a D.C. United Summer Camps credit equal to the value of the missed day.

General Information

What are the camp hours?

Camp runs 8:45 AM–2:45 PM, Monday–Friday. Optional Extended Day is available:

  • Morning: starts at 8:00 AM
  • Afternoon: supervision until 6:00 PM

Extended Day can be added during or after enrollment.
Note: Extended Day provides supervision and fun, not added curriculum.

What should my camper bring?

We provide a D.C. United Camp jersey on Day 1. Please label all items with your camper’s name.

Send your camper with:

  • Shin guards
  • Soccer cleats and athletic shoes (for potential indoor activities)
  • Sunscreen (spray recommended)
  • Lunch in a labeled bag with ice pack if needed (we cannot provide refrigeration)
  • Water bottle (refill stations available)

Soccer balls are provided.

What is the age range for campers?

DC & Maryland: Ages 5–13

Virginia: Ages 6–13

Do campers need prior soccer experience?

No. We welcome campers of all levels of experience – from first-time players to club team players.

Do you seperate children by grade?

Yes. Campers are grouped by rising grade to ensure competitive balance, appropriate instruction, and a fun developmental experience.

Can my camper be on the same team as their friends/teammates?

Yes- request a Buddy Group during enrollment.
Campers may request up to three buddies. We do our best to honor buddy requests when campers are in the same rising grade, but placement cannot be guaranteed.

Who are the Coaches?

Our staff includes experienced youth coaches and current or former high school and collegiate players. All staff complete a rigorous screening and training process.

How can I purchase a gift card?

You can purchase a gift card by visiting our Gift Card Product Page.  Once purchased, you’ll receive a digital certificate with a discount code within 2–3 business days.

Gift card amounts:
 $50, $75, $100, $150, $200, $500, $550

Enter the discount code during enrollment at checkout. If you have trouble applying the code, contact us before submitting payment.

Registration

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes:

  • 5% multi-program discount for siblings or multiple weeks (applied automatically to additional weeks).
  • Team discounts available- email us at **info@dcunitedsummercamps.com**.

Do I recieve a confirmation email?

Yes. Once registration and payment are completed, you will receive an email confirmation. If you register without submitting payment, you will be added to the waitlist and notified accordingly.

Will I recieve more information before camp?

Yes. As your session approaches, you’ll receive pre-camp details including schedule, drop-off instructions, and what to bring. During the week, you’ll receive daily updates and announcements via email.

What happens if my camper is on a waitlist?

Waitlist registration is free. If a spot opens, we will contact you immediately. If you choose to accept, we’ll collect payment at that time and complete the enrollment.

Do you accept "walk up" registrations?

No. All registrations must be completed online by the Friday before camp begins, pending availability.

The Camp Week

When will my camper recieve a jersey?

On Monday morning campers should arrive wearing:

  • T-shirt
  • Athletic shorts
  • Cleats or athletic shoes
  • Hat (optional)

They’ll put their D.C. United jersey over their T-shirt.

Does my camper near to wear their jersey everyday?

Yes please - except for Monday, when they receive it.

Do I need to pack a lunch?

Yes. Please pack a labeled lunch with ice pack if needed. We cannot refrigerate lunches.
Note: D.C. United Summer Camps Powered by Headfirst are nut-free.

Does D.C. United Camp provide sunscreen?

Yes, with parental permission. Campers should bring their own sunscreen, but backup sunscreen is available if needed.

How do you handle inclement weather?

We monitor conditions closely and communicate plans proactively. If fields are unusable or weather is unsafe, we may cancel for the day. In that case, families receive a camp credit equal to the missed day.

How do you handle the summer heat?

We build frequent water and sunscreen breaks into each day. In extreme heat, we may pause soccer activities and move campers to shaded or indoor spaces. Parents will be notified in advance if additional precautions are needed.

Can parents watch the camp activiities?

For safety and field-flow reasons, we do not allow spectators during the camp day.

Can you accommodate campers with life-threatening allergies?

Yes. We are a nut-free program and take multiple precautions, including:

  • Mandatory but discreet allergy wristbands
  • Coaches carrying camper medication (e.g., Epi-Pen) in a fanny pack
  • Monday medication check-in and Friday return
  • Full procedures are communicated before camp begins.
