What level of players will I be working with?
Players that attend our youth programs include beginners playing at the recreational level and intermediate and advanced players at the travel and elite level.
REMINDER: Please note these are not D.C. United Academy coaching roles
What types of employment options are available?
Full Schedule – required to be available 5 evenings per week plus weekends
Partial Schedule – required to be available 2/3 evenings per week plus weekends
Junior Coach – part time position during the summer for young, aspiring coaches looking to gain youth soccer coaching experience
Coaches will provide quality, supplemental training to players, attend mandatory staff training and coach education, and complete administrative tasks as assigned.
What does the interview and selection process look like ?
Interested candidates should apply online as positions become available. Based on review of your online application, a phone interview will be scheduled. Candidates that are successful in the phone interview stage will be invited to a recruitment event, consisting of an on-field session and in-person interview.
Is visa sponsorship available for these coaching positions?
No. Visa sponsorship is not provided for coaching with D.C. United Youth Programs.
What is the compensation structure?
Compensation rates vary based upon experience and coaching qualifications (US Soccer or foreign equivalent)
Do I need a driver’s license and my own vehicle?
All coaches are required to have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Will I receive a coaching uniform and equipment?
All coaches will receive official D.C. United coaching uniform and coaching equipment to deliver training sessions.
Will I get the opportunity to take coaching courses?
In addition to our ongoing coach education program, all hired coaches will have the opportunity to take coaching courses during off peak seasons. While course fees are not covered by D.C. United Youth Programs, compensation is aligned with completed licenses.
Will I be able to get involved with the D.C. United First Team or D.C. United Academy?
Periodically, Youth Programs staff will have the opportunity to observe D.C. United First Team practices as well as attend coach education workshops with guest presenters from our professional teams and Academy.
