WASHINGTON (January 6, 2016) --D.C. United have acquired winger Patrick Nyarko from the Chicago Fire in exchange for United's natural second round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Per league and club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Nyarko, 29, played in 19 matches for the Fire in 2015, scoring 3 goals and adding 4 assists. In eight MLS seasons, the Ghanaian has recorded 19 goals and 39 assists in 196 appearances (148 started).
"From a wide position, Patrick has regularly been one of the top chance creators in the league,” United General Manager Dave Kasper said. "His pace and technical ability make him difficult to defend and we believe that he will complement our returning attacking players perfectly."
Nyarko was selected 7th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire after a successful collegiate career at Virginia Tech. The NSCAA first team All-American lead the Hokies to their first ever NCAA College Cup appearance in 2007.

Nyarko will be reunited with former teammate, Chris Rolfe, who spent 4 seasons together with the Fire from 2008-2009 and 2012-2013.
