Zach Prince

Assistant Coach

Prince joins the Black-and-Red coaching staff from the New York Red Bulls where he served as an assistant coach under current D.C. United Head Coach, Troy Lesesne. Prince was also a part of Lesesne’s coaching staff at New Mexico United and played under him at both the College of Charleston (NCAA) and the Charleston Battery (USL Championship).

Prince was named the New York Red Bulls Assistant Coach on June 13, 2023 under Head Coach, Troy Lesesne. He helped Lesesne lead the New York Red Bulls to a 14-10-8 record to qualify for MLS Cup playoffs and the Round of 16 in both the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup. Prior to joining the Red Bulls, Prince was the head coach for the USL Championship side New Mexico United from 2021-2022. He was the second Heach Coach in club history and led New Mexico United to the USL Championship playoffs in 2022, earning the most points, most goals scored, and highest goal differential in club history. Prince also led New Mexico to the final 32 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2023 before departing to be an assistant coach for the New York Red Bulls. During his time with New Mexico, Prince accumulated a record of 20-14-17 as a Head Coach.

Prince played four years of college soccer at the College of Charleston in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a striker from 2006-2009. He also played as a midfielder for the Charleston Battery of the USL Championship from 2010-2016 where he appeared in 153 matches, scoring 11 goals and recording seven assists on his way to winning two USL Championship Final in 2010 and 2012.
