United midfielder Lamar Neagle has been voted the MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The Washington state native scored both goals in the Black-and-Red's 2-1 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday, Oct. 1, helping them win their first road match since May 27 and was named to the MLS Team of the Week.

On Wednesday, Neagle entered the match as a substitute and immediately made an impact, scoring minutes after coming onto the field (and assisting on another) to beat Columbus Crew SC 3-0.

The versatile wide player now has tied his career high with nine goals on the year (best on the team) to go along with his six assists.  Neagle's now recorded a goal or an assist in five of his last six appearances.

Over D.C.’s current five-game unbeaten mark, including wins in their previous three matches, Neagle has four goals and two assists, helping catapult the club into the thick of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference (fifth in the East, 43 points, 10-9-13 record). He is the second D.C. player to be voted the best of the week this season; Patrick Mullins earned the honor after scoring a hat trick against the Chicago Fire back on Aug. 27.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. For previous winners, please click here.
