Washington, D.C. (July 17, 2013) – D.C. United today announced the club has traded defender Brandon McDonald to Real Salt Lake in exchange for a natural third-round selection in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft and a conditional pick in 2015.

“We want to thank Brandon for all of his contributions on and off the field during the past three seasons, and we wish him the best of luck with his new club,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper.

McDonald departs D.C. United after being acquired from the San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money on June 27, 2011. The 27-year old made 63 appearances overall (62 starts) for the Black-and-Red, notching three goals and adding five assists during his tenure in DC.
