Major League Soccer and D.C. United Announce 2027 Sprint Season Schedule

The Black-and-Red to open the 2027 MLS Sprint Season at Audi Field against Red Bull New York on Feb. 21 

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 29, 2026) - Major League Soccer and D.C. United today announced the club’s 2027 MLS Sprint Season Schedule, the fast-paced, high-stakes competition that will launch the league’s transition into its new summer-to-spring calendar and aligns its schedule with the world’s top soccer leagues.  The Black-and-Red open their season against rivals Red Bull New York at Audi Field on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

The 2027 MLS Sprint Season will kick off the weekend of Feb. 19-21 and culminate in the Audi 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs and 2027 MLS Cup presented by Audi on Memorial Day Weekend in May. During the Sprint Season, D.C. United will face its 14 conference opponents once, playing seven matches at home and seven on the road.  

In addition to crowning an MLS Cup champion, the 2027 MLS Sprint Season will also have international competition implications, determining qualification for the 2028 Concacaf Champions Cup and 2028 Leagues Cup.

MLS is Back Weekend: Feb. 19-21 

The 2027 MLS Sprint Season kicks off with a standalone match on Friday, Feb. 19 between Inter Miami CF and FC Cincinnati at Nu Stadium in Miami (8 p.m. ET), followed by 13 additional matches across Saturday and Sunday. 

The Saturday, Feb. 20 action kicks off with Philadelphia Union hosting Chicago Fire FC (1 p.m. ET) and features the 2026 Supporters’ Shield winners Nashville SC hosting New York City FC (3 p.m. ET). The weekend concludes on Feb. 21 with a Southern California rivalry edition of Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire between San Diego FC and LAFC at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles (7 p.m. ET). 

 MLS Decision Day 2027 on May 8 

The MLS regular season concludes with Decision Day 2027 on Saturday, May 8. The slate features Eastern Conference matches kicking off at 5 p.m. ET and Western Conference matches beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Apple TV, with results determining which teams qualify for the Audi 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs. Highlighted Decision Day matches include the Hudson River Derby between New York City FC and Red Bull New York (5 p.m. ET) and 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions St. Louis CITY SC hosting Seattle Sounders FC (8 p.m. ET). 

Audi 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs and 2027 MLS Cup presented by Audi 

Following Decision Day 2027 on May 8, the top eight teams in each of the two conferences will qualify for the Audi 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs. In each conference, the postseason will be played in a single-elimination bracket format to determine a conference champion. The Eastern and Western Conference champions will meet in 2027 MLS Cup presented by Audi on Memorial Day Weekend. The complete postseason schedule will be announced at a later date.
