United waive Andrea Mancini, Italian to join New York Cosmos

D.C. United have waived Italian midfielder Andrea Mancini, who will join the New York Cosmos.  The 24-year-old played in one Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match, replacing Miguel Aguilar in the 66th minute in United’s penalty-shootout loss to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.  He did not appear in a league match
Career Summary

The Italian played in the Inter Milan youth system from 2005-2009 as well as Manchester City's academy from 2010-2011 (along with Clowes, who played in the City academy until he was 18).  Mancini spent time in England and Spain before landing in Hungary, first with Budapest Honvéd FC, followed by Szombathelyi Halidás in 2015.   

Mancini, who featured in United's preseason matches during the Tampa Bay Rowdies Sun Coast Invitational, will wear the number 41 shirt.

The Italian is the youngest son of Internazionale Milano's head coach Roberto Mancini.
