United head coach Ben Olsen
On whether the travel had an effect on the result…

“It doesn’t make things easier for us but that’s not why we lost the game today. There are all types of things that play into preparation and sometimes circumstances aren’t always perfect. The effort from the team was there but unfortunately it’s the same story of us being unable to make plays in the offensive end.”

United defender and captain Steve Birnbaum
Overall thoughts of the game…

“First half I thought we lacked a lot of heart on both sides of the ball. The second half we bounced back and had a little more fight but it’s got to be from the beginning. It’s a disappointing result because I thought this was a game where we could of picked up points but we’re on to Dallas now.”

On the team's mentality after a difficult result…

“The biggest thing is to stay positive right now. We can’t get down on ourselves. We have opportunities to score and we’re not putting them away so we have to execute. We’re in a tough spot right now but we need to get out of it.”

United forward Deshorn Brown
On his overall thoughts of the game...

“We weren’t on the same page and it was just one of those games. We started well then they scored the goal. So now we’ve got to bounce back and regroup again.”

On his first start for United...

“It felt good to start. I was trying to get back into it. I haven’t been playing much and my fitness isn’t where I want it to be. I’ve just got to keep pushing myself and hope for the best.”

On what the team needs to do to turn things around...

“Just stay positive. That’s the key aspect in this. No matter how tough it is, you’ve got to stick together as a team, stay positive and things will start to change.”

United midfielder Ian Harkes
On whether travel had an effect on the result…

“There a lot of factors that go into it and there shouldn’t be any excuses. We have to play better, grind out results and find the goals any way we can. Tonight wasn’t a 2-0 game; they got two chances and they capitalized. We have to find ways to win.”

On how the team can fix their offensive problems…

“We have to stay patient even when the first couple of opportunities don’t go in. We were in the right positions and spaces to have those quality chances but the final ball wasn’t there. When it’s not going right we have to stay positive and stay together. We’ve got to look to attack together as a team.”

On moving forward…

“You have to stay optimistic and continue pushing. We have the Dallas game before the break which is a big one to try and get back on track then we have to refocus for the rest of the season.”

Montreal Impact head coach Mauro Biello
On the collective performance...

"It was not an easy game and they were dangerous in transition. We were able to defend well and break up their attacks. I think our confidence will grow with this defensive performance. We have to continue to grow as a team."

Impact midfielder Blerim Dzemaili
On the collective performance...

"I analyze the team’s game. This game was very important for us. This team has a lot of quality. We have to play all games this way."

On Chris Duvall’s goal...

"I saw that when Duvall gave me the ball, he was still running. I gave it back to him. I think we have to move the ball a bit more, like we did in the second half."

Impact defender Hassoun Camara
On the team’s mentality...

"That was our mentality tonight, to be focused on the tactical aspect of the game. We were able to go through the difficult moments in the right way, without conceding. It bides well for the following games."

On Blerim Dzemaili...

"He has a big personality. He is important in the dressing room. He also manages transition between the defensive phase and the attacking phase. His peripheral vision is extraordinary and he can light up the attack with his passing quality, without forgetting his goal. It’s very positive for us."
