In celebration of Women’s History Month, D.C. United invites fans and supporters to bring NEW sports bras to donate to local girls in need throughout the D.C. area. Fans will also have the opportunity to make a monetary contribution to LPF to purchase NEW sports bras. LPF staff will be stationed just outside of Gate A and at a table inside of Gate A to collect donations. Fans and supporters are also encouraged to donate gently used soccer cleats to help support the ongoing needs of local youth soccer programs.

Leveling the Playing Field (LPF) gives children from under-resourced communities the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports participation. They do this by gathering used and excess sporting equipment and distributing it to programs and schools serving low-income communities. Born in the early 1900s, the mission of International Women’s Day (IWD) is to help forge a gender equal world, celebrate women’s achievements, and increase visibility, while calling out inequality. (https://www.internationalwomensday.com/)

In celebrating International Women’s Day, D.C. United looks to showcase its partners, and community leaders as trailblazers for diverse female leadership at the intersection of business, service, and sport. While some may hold the honor of being first, these leaders are making sure they are not the last. The D.C. United International Women’s Day Celebration is to honor those who have achieved professional milestones and paved paths, as well as those at the beginning of their journey, and all women in-between.
