D.C. United awarded Tanbrance Berry, a Junior at Howard University, a $10,000 scholarship during halftime at the club’s College Night match on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Audi Field against Charlotte FC.
The scholarship is made possible through D.C. United’s partnership with the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) and supports local students as they pursue their educational and professional goals. The scholarship was presented as part of D.C. United’s College Night, an annual celebration that brings local college students together to enjoy a night of soccer and community in the District.

United to support promising students like Tanbrance Berry,” said LaToya Foster, Director of the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment. “Her drive, leadership, and commitment to the community exemplify the kind of talent we strive to uplift here in the District. Investing in young people who are shaping the future of sports, media, and entertainment is not just important…it’s essential.”
Berry is pursuing a career at the intersection of law and sports, studying Legal Communications with a minor in Sports Administration while earning her law degree. She’s gained experience in the industry through roles with the Washington Commanders, ESPN Events, the Atlanta Dream, Howard Athletics and Hilltop Events, currently working in Women’s Basketball Brand Partnerships at Howard University. Berry also serves as President of Howard’s Youth Justice Advocates.
She is a Legal Communications with a minor in Sports Administration while pursuing her law degree with hopes of becoming a sports attorney. Berry brings experience through roles with the Washington Commanders, ESPN Events, the Atlanta Dream, Howard Athletics and Hilltop. At Howard University, Berry works in the Women’s Basketball Brand Partnerships department, including helping to bring NBA All-Star Weekend to life. She also gives back as President of Howard University Youth Justice Advocates
