United defender Bobby Boswell has been named to the MLS Team of the Week following his performance in United's 2-1 victory over New York City FC on Saturday, April 8. Boswell, who made his 180th appearance for United on Saturday and leads the current roster in appearances for D.C., provided a stout core to United's back line against the likes of David Villa and Jack Harrison. The 34-year-old's strong and unphased presence in the defensive third helped prevent New York City's relentless attack from finding the equalizer in the second half. He finished the match with two tackles won, six clearances and three interceptions.
Hamid and Acosta have also been named to the MLS Team of the Week's bench for their impressive showings. Like Boswell, Hamid's defensive efforts in the second half helped maintain United's lead and ultimately seal the victory for the Black-and-Red, as the 26-year-old Homegrown Player made numerous clutch, late-match saves to deny New York City. Hamid was also named to the MLS Team of the Week for his Week 5 performance against the Philadelphia Union and was nominated for MLS Save of the Week for his extraordinary double save against David Villa and Jack Harrison..
Acosta completed his strongest match yet for the Black-and-Red, dazzling in the midfield and scoring his second goal in as many games. The Argentine netted the eventual game-winning goal in the 73rd minute, when he one-time finished a rebound from a Lloyd Sam shot. The midfielder was named United's Man of the Match.
