D.C. United today announced that Homegrown goalkeeper Bill Hamid has been named to the EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 Ultimate Team of the Week
, which honors a select group of global players each week for their high level of play. Hamid joins the likes of Rio Ferdinand of Manchester United, Eden Hazard of Chelsea FC, and David Villa of FC Barcelona.
The EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 Ultimate Team is a massive online community of fans building, managing and competing with their ultimate soccer team from the world’s best players in FIFA Soccer 13. Each week, the world’s top performing players are selected to the FIFA 13 Ultimate Team of the Week and receive an “in form” item that increases the player’s attributes. Fans have the opportunity to collect Team of the Week players from in-game packs and then compete with those players on their FIFA Ultimate Team online against millions of other fans around the world on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
Hamid, the sole representative from Major League Soccer this week, made a season-high seven saves against the Red Bulls in a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the Atlantic Cup. The clean sheet marked Hamid’s second consecutive shutout, and the Homegrown netminder now leads the League in saves (13) and shutout minutes (181).
Hamid also garnered “MLS Player of the Week" for Week 3 of the 2013 season and has two saves up for MLS’ “Save of the Week” honor.
