United academy teams conclude 2015-2016 season in Texas

The D.C. United Under-18 and Under-16 academy concluded their 2015-2016 season by going 3-3-0 at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) playoffs in Dallas, TX. Neither teams qualified to progress to the knockout rounds of the tournament. 


The U-18’s won their final game against Shattuck St. Mary’s on June 26 after losing against MLS opponents Orlando City SC (June 22, 6-1) and FC Dallas (June 24, 3-2). United’s youngest Homegrown signing, Chris Durkin, scored a goal in the defeat against FC Dallas while Dominic-Maximillian Duncan was the U-18’s top scorer with two goals.


The U-16’s went 2-1 at the playoffs beating the Capital Area Railhawks (June 24, 2-1) and Chicago Magic PSG (June 26, 3-2) after losing to FC Dallas on June 22. The Black-and-Red’s Colin Brezniak was a playoff standout, scoring three goals in three games at the tournament. 


Group Stage Roundup

The Under-14 academy also traveled to Dallas to participate in a showcase event. They won their opening game 4-0 against St. Louis Scott Gallagher on June 20 before losing their final two games against Orlando City SC (June 21, 2-1) and the San Jose Earthquakes (June 23, 2-0).
