D.C. United have partnered with Sinclair Broadcast Group for the 2016 season as part of a multi-year deal.
As part of the partnership, all non-nationally televised matches will be broadcast locally, over the air on WJLA (ABC7) or on the basic cable channel NewsChannel 8. Every match will include a pre-and-post game show and the agreement provides an opportunity to air D.C. United content on non matchdays.
“This partnership represents an inflection point for the club and our fans,” Co-Owner and Managing General Partner, Jason Levien said. “It provides us with considerable increases in reach, awareness and fan engagement.”
Sinclair’s new sports division, American Sports Network (ASN), will produce the D.C. United matches.
Sinclair, which owns and operates programs or provides sales services to 162 television stations in 79 markets, reaches approximately 37.5 percent of American television households and includes FOX, ABC, MyTV, CW, CBS, NBC, Univision and Azteca affiliates.
