team training and running in jamaica - CCL - September 15, 2014

D.C. United’s first full day in Jamaica was busy as the players had a passport check with CONCACAF, the staff took a trip to the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica, Head Coach Ben Olsen and midfielder Kyle Porter attended the prematch press conference and the team finally trained on the National Stadium field in preparation for its big CONCACAF Champions League game tomorrow.

The day started off with a team breakfast at the hotel before everyone started moving in their different directions. After breakfast, the team staff hopped on a bus and were shuttled to the U.S. Embassy where they met the Embassy employees, took pictures and provided the Embassy with their own D.C. United jersey. Once the staff got back to the team hotel, Olsen and Porter, along with other United personnel, were then transported to the stadium where they accompanied Waterhouse FC’s head coach as well as several players to talk in front of local and national media ahead of the game tomorrow night.

While Olsen and Porter were at the stadium, the rest of the team relaxed, had a team lunch and got ready for the evening training session. The previous night the team trained on a practice field next to the National Stadium, but today training was on the field where they will compete tomorrow night. After the usual 5v2 warm ups, the team went in to small sided passes, possession based shooting drills, worked on set pieces and finished by taking shots on Joe Willis and Bill Hamid before hitting the bus back to the hotel for dinner.

United defeated Waterhouse FC in the teams' first meeting and will host Tauro FC on September 24 at RFK Stadium. BUY TICKETS
