D.C. United has announced tryout dates for its U-14 Development Academy teams. With one of the most successful academies in the country, the D.C. United Academy is the only link to the professional ranks of Major League Soccer in the Washington, D.C. region.
Players within the D.C. United Academy receive high caliber training from coaches with USSF A and UEFA B licenses, train four times a week, and play games against other U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams on the weekend. United U-14 players will travel to regional and national showcase events and be scouted by U.S. Soccer on a regular basis.
Seven D.C. United Academy players have been signed to professional contracts with the First Team since the creation of the United States Soccer Federation Development Academy system in 2007. Michael Seaton became United’s latest addition in 2013, signing a professional contract at the age of 16 after playing with the Pre-Academy and worked his way up to the U-18 team. He is now also a member of the Jamaican men’s national team. Andy Najar, who plays for Belgian champion RSC Anderlecht and will represent Honduras at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, signed with United in 2010 and went on to be named that season’s MLS Rookie of the Year. Academy products Bill Hamid, Ethan White, Conor Shanosky, Collin Martin and Jalen Robinson have also ascended to the First Team.
D.C. United Academy players have been called in to youth and senior national team duty for the United States, Canada, Honduras, Jamaica and El Salvador teams, and the system also has produced several top collegiate players.
Players are invited to register for U-14 tryouts at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field at the intersection of Oklahoma Ave and C Street in Northeast Washington. Players should register for only one date using the links below. For more information about the D.C. United Academy, please visit the D.C. United Youth FAQ page.
