D.C. United Youth Academy had a busy list of fixtures on the weekend of November 9th - 10th, 2019, with the club playing a total of seven games over Saturday and Sunday. Here is a breakdown of all the games and their respective results:

The weekend kicked off with our Under 15’s taking on Cedar Stars Academy at Segra Field, a game which ended with a victorious scoreline of 5-3. The team trailed by a goal at half-time and they showed their steely resolve by hammering in five goals in the second half to secure a win. The Never-Say-Die attitude instilled by Coach Nate Kish paved the way forward for a passionate second-half performance by the boys in Black-and-Red with two goals from Alex Raudales, and one each from Hugo Portillo, Isaac Espinal and Angel Vargas-Hernandez, sealing the victory. The second fixture of the day took place at RFK Stadium where a strong performance by our U-14’s secured a 1-0 win with a goal from Adrian Buri. The boys showed their defensive solidarity to keep a clean sheet in the face of numerous attacking chances created by a very skilled Cedar Stars team. The U-17’s kicked off at Segra Field in the last fixture of the day and they fell 2-1 versus the Cedar Stars. A late goal scored by Mathias Yohannes did not leave enough time for the team to rally back to overturn the scoreline.

Four games were played on Sunday, November 10th, with a mixed bag of results. The Academy teams bagged two wins and suffered two losses. The U-15’s kickstarted the day’s fixtures with a 1-0 win (Brian Chavez) against Bethesda Academy securing back-to-back wins this weekend. The U-17’s had another hard-fought battle ultimately succumbing to defeat,  2-1. Xavier O’Neil got on the scoresheet at half time, but the group was unable to turn the one-goal deficit to win the game. The U-19’s showed a spirited performance but the boys fell 2-1 against Bethesda Academy. They trailed at half-time by a goal, and then immediately equalized in the second half with an excellent free-kick by David Ayala. Bethesda Academy got another goal in the latter stages of the game, sealing the fate of the U-19’s. The U-14’s capped off a very busy weekend with a dominating performance in a resounding 2-0 victory. Two first-half goals from Nicholas Beil and Alejandro Dubon led to the team heading into half-time with a 2-0 lead. The game ended with the same scoreline at full-time with another exemplary defensive performance by the U-14s culminating with two clean sheets on the weekend.
