Washington, D.C., Sept. 17, 2019 -- D.C. United have announced a partnership with leading education technology company EVERFI, Inc. that will enable students across Washington, D.C., to explore careers rooted in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through an interactive online platform. Alongside presenting partner Group 1001 and supporting partner LMI, D.C. United will be the exclusive provider of this STEM education program at no cost to District of Columbia Public Schools.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with EVERFI in an important step towards equipping the District’s youth with the resources needed to excel in various STEM platforms at school,” said Andy Bush, Chief Revenue Officer of D.C. United. “D.C. United remain committed in supporting our community and this partnership allows us to provide the city’s school system with free tools to prepare students for careers in science, technology, engineering and math."
Eighty percent of the nation’s fastest-growing careers require skills from one or more STEM fields. The digital program is designed to spark curiosity in STEM and introduce middle and high school students to a wide variety of exciting STEM career options. When navigating the course, students reflect on activities they enjoy and receive feedback on how those interests can translate into STEM careers that power innovation.
“It’s critical that we equip young people with the science, technology, engineering, and math skills needed to inspire educational pathways to careers in these growing fields,” said Jon Chapman, president and co-founder, EVERFI. “We’re incredibly excited to work together with D.C. United, Group1001, and LMI to grow the impact of this program.”
Earlier this summer, D.C. United invited local students to the first annual Soccer & STEM Adventures at Audi Field. Students rotated through several stations that connected science and math to the game of soccer. D.C. United will welcome students to this event again in Spring 2020.
