D.C. United fell to Los Angeles FC on Saturday afternoon. After a two-week break from Audi Field, the Black-and-Red returned home to face LAFC. But the No. 1 team in the Western Conference ultimately got the best of the home team, winning 4-0 in a match where D.C. United went down to ten men.


D.C. United conceded the first goal fifteen minutes into the match. Carlos Vela settled the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box and blasted a shot past Bill Hamid into the far corner. The second goal came from Diego Rossi, who tapped home a ball sent into the box by Vela in the 27th minute.

By the 33rd minute, the Black-and-Red were down 3-0. Rossi got his second goal of the match off a pass from Mark-Anthony Kaye. It didn’t get better when D.C. United went down to 10 men in the 52nd minute. Wayne Rooney received a red card after a tackle on Diego Rossi, where he clipped Rossi’s ankle.  


LAFC scored another goal in the 75th minute of the match, sealing their victory over the Black-and-Red and completing the hat trick for Diego Rossi.

D.C. United created more chances in the second half of the match, but LAFC’s defense stepped up to keep the clean sheet. The Black-and-Red had multiple shots blocked by defenders either on the goal line or inside the 18-yard box. Ultimately, they weren’t able to send any shots past LAFC goalkeeper, Tyler Miller.


D.C. United will have a quick turnaround, as they prepare for a Cherry Blossom Night against the Montreal Impact. The match will kickoff at 8:00 PM ET and will air on FloFC.
