The Opposition: FC Dallas

Recent Matches

FC Dallas are undefeated in their last five matches, with three wins and two draws. They drew Columbus at home and Portland on the road, and defeated Houston at home, Vancouver on the road, and Orlando at home. Dallas' most recent match was a 2-0 victory over Orlando City at Toyota Park, and while Dallas have earned 10 wins at home this season, their last three wins came against opponents currently outside of the payoff picture. Dallas have six away wins this season—the second most in the Western Conference.

Players To Watch

The FC Dallas defense has been particularly impressive in recent matches. Their goalkeeper, Jesse Gonzalez, is a young Mexican-American who has represented the United States at the senior level. He has six shutouts on the year, including three in their last five matches.

Dallas' offense has remained efficient, scoring eight goals in their last five matches, however, they were blanked against the Columbus Crew at home and the Portland Timbers at Providence Park. Their top goal-scorer is Roland Lamah, but the midfielder is going through a bit of a drought, not scoring since Dallas hosted the San Jose Earthquakes on August 4. In addition to Lamah, forward Maxi Urruti is Dallas' key playmaker—Urruti has seven goals and 11 assists on the season.

Head-to-Head

This will be the first time D.C. United have faced FC Dallas this season. They have met once a year for the last five years. Dallas have won four out of their five last matchups against the Black-and-Red.

Playoff Picture

FC Dallas are currently No. 1 in the Western Conference. They have already clinched a playoff spot, but a win for the visitors could help solidify their No. 1 position over Sporting Kansas City and LAFC. For D.C. United, a win would push them into the No. 6 slot in the Eastern Conference and into a playoff position with three regular season matches remaining.
