Midfielder Yamil Asad has been nominated for MLS' AT&T Goal of the Week thanks to his history-making golazo at Audi Field last Saturday against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The goal was Asad's eighth of the season, which has tied him for the team lead.
In the 27th minute of the match, a blocked cross from Oniel Fisher bounced its way to Zoltán Stieber, who quickly found Asad waiting near the top of the box, just outside the half circle. Asad quickly collected the ball and fired a beautiful curling strike from distance that flew past Vancouver goalkeeper Brian Rowe and into the upper-right corner to christen Audi Field with a 1-0 lead.
This is Asad's second Goal of the Week nomination of 2018, and his second with the Black-and-Red. Fans can vote until midnight PT on Wednesday, July 18.
