D.C. United have announced a multi-year partnership with gigapixel photography company, Fancam, which will deliver high-resolution, 360Âş crowd images of every United home game through 2020.

Fans attending the July 14 Audi Field opening match against the Vancouver Whitecaps will be the first to experience the technology -- providing them the opportunity to zoom into the image, find themselves in the crowd and prove they attended this historic event.

"Our fans are some of the most passionate in all of MLS," Tom Hunt, D.C. United president, said. "By partnering with Fancam, we're not only able to provide them world-class technology in a state-of-the-art venue, but also be the first MLS club to allow fans to seamlessly share their experience with friends and family across every single match."

Remote controlled cameras will be configured at Audi Field to create a composite image that will include every single attending fan. Each resulting Fancam will be 300,000 pixels wide by 150,000 pixels high -- giving it a total size of 45,000 megapixels (if printed at billboard quality, it would stretch over 3 professional sized soccer fields from goal to goal).

While Audi Field is the first MLS club to permanently utilize the technology, Fancam has an extensive portfolio of install partners across NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL teams.

"Audi Field is a perfect place for our first MLS install," said Fancam CEO, Tinus Le Roux. "D.C. United are creating one of the most innovative, fan-centric venues, and this break-through relationship only reinforces their commitment to providing the best match-day experience in the League."

Every Fancam image will be released on dcunited.comand the team's social media platforms following each home game. The images will also be available at dcunited.fancam.com
