Countdown to Christmas: One new stadium

It’s officially Christmas Eve and it’s ALMOST better than the opening day of the MLS season! It's the final day of United's Christmas countdown and we leave Black-and-Red fans with the greatest gift of all, Audi Field.

Audi Field

United spent 22 great seasons at RFK, and now fans will finally be given the soccer-specific stadium that they have been craving for years. D.C. soccer fans rejoiced on Feb. 27 when United Managing Partner Jason Levien, Mayor Muriel Bowser, MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Audi of America President Scott Keogh joined members of the Black-and-Red family in officially announcing the groundbreaking for Audi Field at Buzzard Point. Media and fans gathered with players and team personnel to break ground with commemorative (and festive) D.C. United shovels in a celebration felt across the nation’s capital.

With ground officially broken, construction crews got straight to work to get the stadium erected for fans by summer 2018. Fans can view Audi Field's construction progress through the site's construction cam.

Each day yields a new addition to the Audi Field construction zone, and with continued progress fans are rewarded with more renderings to show what life will be like in their new venue next year. The stadium experience is beginning to take shape and newly released fly-through videos give fans a glimpse at what their new home will look like.

It's been a long and winding road to Audi Field and fans’ patience and commitment to the club is the Christmas gift that keeps on giving for D.C. United. From everyone at the club: happy holidays!
