After starting the match against LA Galaxy on June 3 with 599 career regular season saves, United goalkeeper Bill Hamid now sits in elite company. In the sixth minute, Hamid recorded his 600th career save, something only two other active goalkeepers and 11 others in league history have achieved, and became the youngest goalkeeper in MLS history to reach the milestone (26 years, 6 months, 9 days).

United’s first Homegrown Player also became the youngest goalkeeper in MLS history to record 45 shutouts at just 26 years, six months and two days old when the Black-and-Red defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 on May 27. He beat out Nick Rimando (28 years, 11 months, 21 days), who recorded his 45th shutout in a 0-0 draw against the Kansas City Wizards on June 7, 2008. The two goalkeepers are the only players to achieve the milestone under the age of the 30.

Since he made his debut as a 19-year-old on and became the youngest goalkeeper in MLS history to record a win, Hamid has broken numerous records for the Black-and-Red in his eight season tenure. He holds the club record  for games played (171), minutes (15,189), wins (62), saves (596) and shutouts (45).United director of goalkeeping Zach Thornton, along with former Black-and-Red goalkeepers Nick Rimando, Pat Onstad, Troy Perkins and Scott Garlick are all members of the 12-man list of goalkeepers who have reached 600 saves.
