The Black-and-Red picked up their first road point of the season after drawing 2-2 with the New England Revolution in a wild back-and-forth bout on Saturday, April 22.

With numerous starters out due to injury and illness, United took the field with a different-look lineup and conceded an early goal to Revs midfielder Lee Nguyen in the 5th minute. The Black-and-Red quickly regained their composure, though, and began controlling possession in the midfield. Rookie Ian Harkes nearly pulled United level when he unleashed a rocket of a shot from outside the top of the box in the 14th minute, but the goalpost prevented the score—a common theme throughout the night.

The Black-and-Red netted their first road goal of the season in the 26th minute thanks to a clinical Jared Jeffrey strike. A sloppy New England clearance led to a loose ball at the top of the box, which Jeffrey one-timed past Revs keeper Cody Cropper to even the match at 1-1.

United then took the lead just two minutes later when Lloyd Sam slipped a perfect through-ball forward to SĂ©bastien Le Toux, who was making a strong run toward goal. Le Toux, who earned his 200th career MLS start against the Revs, unleashed a perfectly-timed shot past a charging Cropper and two Revs defenders to give D.C. the lead. The goal was Le Toux's first for United and 58th all-time.

The Black-and-Red attack continued to press and defender Sean Franklin nearly gave United their third goal of the half in the 37th minute, but Cropper came up with the huge diving save the keep the score at 2-1 entering halftime.

Following halftime, New England found an equalizer of their own and leveled the match at 2-2 when United failed to effectively clear a Revs corner kick in the 49th minute. One minute later, it seemed Sam had earned a Black-and-Red penalty kick and a chance to retake the lead after being taken down from behind in the box, but no call was made.

Both sides came inches away from retaking the lead throughout the second half. While the match remained a back-and-forth battle of chances and stops, keeper Bill Hamid once again came up huge for the Black-and-Red, denying the Revs numerous point-blank chances to keep the match even.

The 2-2 draw moves United to 32-26-12 all-time against the Revs in the regular season and extends United's unbeaten streak at Gillette Stadium, where they have not lost since May of 2014. United host New England for the sides' final meeting of the regular season on Saturday, August 26.
