D.C. United has announced that forward Conor Doyle will miss the remainder of the 2014 season after suffering a right knee injury in training. The McKinney, Tex., native underwent a successful right knee meniscus repair on August 4, with Dr. Ken Fine of The Orthopaedic Center in Washington, D.C., and is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 months.

“Conor has made important contributions to the team since his arrival last year, and we are disappointed to lose him at this point in the season,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. “We are confident in his return next spring.”

Doyle, 22, has made 17 regular season appearances (one start) for D.C. United this season, registering four shots. He initially joined D.C. United on loan in 2013, making 14 appearances (8 starts) and finishing the year with two goals and one assist.
