De Rosario Tale

Tale of the Tape: D.C. United vs. Philadelphia Union

In boxing, the tale of the tape is the pre-fight measurements between the two combatants. In 2013, we're telling the tale of the tape between D.C. United and its foe of the week.

Three-Game Scoring Streaks
Luis Silva has scored goals in three consecutive games for the Black-and-Red to lead United in goals on the season (3). But, he isn’t the only player on the current roster to have done so. Midfielder/forward Chris Pontius accomplished the feat in 2012 with four goals in a three-game span, and forward Dwayne De Rosario scored five goals in a three-game span during the 2011 campaign, which included the fastest hat trick in MLS history against Real Salt Lake on September 24. The last player to score in each of his first three games for D.C. United was Charlie Davies in 2011.

Super Silva
Since joining D.C. United from Toronto FC on 7/9, Luis Silva has made three appearances, all starts, for his new club and netted three goals. His latest came in D.C. United’s 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact on 8/3 as the fourth overall pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft continues to make an immediate impact for the Black-and-Red. In fact, Silva and Mike Magee of the Chicago Fire are the only two MLS players with an active three-goal scoring streak.

Vulnerable Interval
In its 23 MLS games this season, the Philadelphia Union has conceded 12 goals between the 61st and 75th minutes of games, the most of any team in the League. The Union has also conceded 22 goals in the second half of matches, compared to 10 in the first half of matches.

Scoring vs. the Union
In the eight games he has played against the Philadelphia Union in his career, D.C. United captain Dwayne De Rosario has scored three goals, the joint-fourth most all-time among players in MLS. De Rosario sits alongside Edson Buddle, Marco Di Vaio and Maicon Santos in the list, two behind scoring leader Kenny Cooper.

Keeping Their Discipline
In the 22 games D.C. United has played this season, there has not been a red card shown to either a member of the Black-and-Red or any of its opponents.
