D.C. United, DC Brau Brewing Company, LLC, and Centerplate today announced that DC Brau’s “The Public” will be made available at RFK Stadium starting Aug. 3 through the end of the year. Season ticket-holders will be able to first enjoy the local beer this Saturday in the Champions Club during the Black-and-Red’s game against the Montreal Impact (7:30 p.m.; tickets still available). Beginning Saturday, Aug. 24 (7 p.m.; tickets still available) - when United takes on Toronto FC – the brew will be sold throughout the stadium.
“We’re excited to again collaborate with DC Brau, a company that also calls the District home,” said D.C. United’s Chief Operating Officer Michael Williamson. “Following such a positive response from creating ‘The Tradition’ together, we’re happy to be able to offer up even more DC Brau to our fans.”
“We are happy to partner with D.C. United and DC Brau in this endeavor, and we look forward to future collaborations,” said Centerplate’s Director of Sports Operations Bobby Dichiaro.
D.C. United first collaborated with the locally-based brewery in creating a fan-named D.C. United-specific beer in June. Out of 534 entries in the “Brand the Brew” contest, Donald Wine II’s submission, “The Tradition,” won out, with First Team players hand-selecting the name. While harkening back to the Black-and-Red’s rich history in MLS, “The Tradition” also tips its hat to DC Brau’s customary naming scheme of its beers, which includes “The Public,” “The Citizen” and “The Corruption.”
“We could not be prouder than we are right now,” said DC Brau CEO Brandon Skall. “Having ‘The Public’ available to fans at RFK will be so meaningful to supporters of both DC Brau and D.C. United. We hope many a beer shower will occur with waving our local brew in the air!”
