On Wednesday night, D.C. United kicked off a two-game Western Conference swing in Seattle. The Sounders bested United 2-0, but the men in black didn't go down without a fight. Here is D.C. United vs Seattle Sounders FC by the numbers:

The Black-and-Red made 17 open play crosses at Century-Link Field. With four in the midfield, United was able to maximize the width of the field.

Ten players started and played the entire 90 minutes for the D.C. side. United Head Coach Ben Olsen made just one sub, in the 76 minute replacing Sainey Nyassi with Casey Townsend.

United returns to action on Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park when they visit the Colorado Rapids. The team will have three days to regroup and prepare for the Rapids. For their end, the Rapids will have one less day for preparation, as they hosted the New York Red Bulls on Thursdays, July 4.
