Coming back from Canada National Team duty in Qatar, D.C. United defender Dejan Jakovic did not miss a step when he made his MLS return at Sporting Park against Sporting Kansas City. United was unlucky to concede a late goal on the road in the 89th minute, but Jakovic and the Black-and-Red backline were superb throughout the match.

Jakovic covered all sorts of ground in the 1-0 loss to Sporting, putting up big defensive numbers in the following categories: interceptions (10), clearances (5) and headers (4). The 27-year-old also provided solid linking play for the midfield, successfully completing 23 passes from 26 attempts.
