Rafael vs Sporting KC - Disney

Trialists debut:

D.C. United bolstered its pre-season roster with more trialists this week and all three debuted in tonight’s match with Sporting Kansas City. Honduran Walter Martinez debuted in the 31st minute, Panamanian Marcos Sanchez debuted in the 37th minute, and Shavar Thomas entered in the 46th minute.

Porter continues to impress down the left flank:

Kyle Porter, who has been on trial since United’s game against Malmo FF, has continued to impress alongside the left flank. His pace, grit, and ability to defend and get forward has made him a viable substitute for Pontius and DeLeon thus far through pre-season. He has continuously whipped in dangerous balls to the attacking corps and provided the game-tying assist against Swedish giants Malmo FF.

Rafael back from injury

D.C. United’s Young Designated Player suffered a small hamstring injury while in Bradenton and hasn’t featured for the side since its first pre-season contest with Columbus. Tonight he logged 28 minutes as a substitute and had one of United’s best chances after he cracked a hard shot just wide of the KC goal.
