VOTE: Top DC Sports Stories of the Year

This year, 106.7 the Fan is asking fans to vote on their Top 10 D.C. Sports Stories of 2012. Two D.C. United stories have made the ballot this year:


D.C. United in the Playoffs
This year, for the first time in five years, D.C. United made it into the MLS Cup Playoffs. It was a stoppage-time goal from midfielder Lewis Neal that sealed the berth for the Black-and-Red. United took the berth as an opportunity and went on to host the Eastern Conference Championship, before losing to the Houston Dynamo at RFK.






Kevin Payne leaves D.C. United
On November 27, United President and CEO stepped down as the club's leader to take on a new role at Toronto FC. Since D.C. United’s inception in 1996, Payne has served as the club’s lead executive. In addition to the club’s honors during his tenure, Payne’s resume at United is filled with individual League honors and awards and, for his efforts to promote soccer in the United States, he was awarded the prestigious Werner Fricker Builder Award by U.S. Soccer in February 2011.
