Post-match quotes: D.C. United 0 - Montreal Impact 3

Ben Olsen

D.C.UNITED HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
Aboutthe game...

I think it was ok. I like what we did inthe first half. Then, we were kind of chasing the game, but I think we were ingood shape there. I felt the PK was soft. The players are doing what they canand I was very proud of the effort and the mentality through the group. But,when you don’t get a break, it’s going to be tough. The guys coming in didn’tlook a 100%.

Abouthis lineup...

You can’t play these guys every game, withtwo days rest in between three games. I went out with a group that had someenergy and overall they were pretty good. I didn’t think we got two big callsthat might get us out of here with the result.

 About their next game...

We need to heal up, with three days torecover and get ready for New York. It goes on, this streak of five games intwo weeks. We got to figure a way to get the three points at home.

D.C.UNITED MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO
Aboutthe game...

I think we started off the game well. Wehad majority of possession. We had one play where we lost that focus and theypunished us. Second half started with the idea to maintain the game and whenthe game went on we did have our chances. Then, they get a penalty shot out ofnothing. Referees made a crucial decision like that and affected the game. It’sdisappointing when you do everything right and then you take your mind out ofthe game for one second and get punished.

Aboutthe team...

I think we just need to fight a littleharder and work more for each other. Every time a team score against us, we putour heads down and think it’s the end. Then, we stop really pushing forward andwe want to keep the ball. We are playing more reserved defensively; stayingback, and then it creates a lot of space. Then, teams are running at us andexposing us. We are going to keep moving forward. We are playing New York onWednesday; it’s going to be a massive game. Hopefully, we’ll be coming with theright mentality.

D.C.UNITED MIDFIELDER CHRIS PONTIUS
Aboutthe game...

I thought in the first half, we had most ofthe possession. They capitalized on one chance. And then, unfortunately, theygot that PK. But, it’s the game of soccer. It is what it is. We had games wherewe were outplayed, but we put the ball away.

Abouttheir next game...

Three games in six days, I don’t think alot of us have done that in a while. We need to regroup because we have anothergame on Wednesday. It’s a quick turnaround for next game too. Hopefully, we cancontinue our home success on Wednesday.

IMPACTCOACH JESSE MARSCH
On theteam’s performance…

They deserve (our players) to win today.I’m really happy for the players because they worked hard; they worked well andfor the entire game. But as I said all year, it’s one game. Every time we get awin, the next game becomes that much more important.

OnD.C. United’s performance…

They had a good start, but we were a littlesurprised that they didn’t start some of their big guys. I think their strategywas to put a team on the field that would hold the fort for 45 or 60 minutes, andthen bring on their big guns. But I think their legs got a little heavy at theend.

OnBernier’s performance…

Even though we weren’t going with him atsome moments, he’s always been an important part of the group for hisleadership, what he means to the community and skill on the field. He’s gottenbetter and better and adapted, and we’ve done some things to make things easierfor him. I know the fans love him and they should. He’s been great.

IMPACTDP FORWARD MARCO DI VAIO
Onmoving up in the standings…

We are trying, but it won’t be easy asother teams have played fewer games than us. We have to keep going and try towin as many games as we can down the stretch.

Onthe game…

We didn’t have a good start to the game. Wewere slow and we didn’t create anything dangerous. Then, Patrice (Bernier) madea great pass and I was able to score and the goal seemed to change things alittle for us. We played better after that and the second half we were able toget that important second goal.

IMPACTMIDFIELDER PATRICE BERNIER
Onthe game…

We are playing really well right now. Weare moving up in the standings and winning games and everyone is playing well.Everyone is on the same page. Marco (Di Vaio) scored another important goal. Everythingis coming together right now.

Onbeing the first Impact player to score two goals in a game…

It’s a nice honor to be in the record bookslike that, but for me the most important thing is that we keep winning and putsome pressure on the teams ahead of us.
