Pre-Academy teams excel at NSCAA Baltimore College Showcase

D.C.United’s Pre-Academy teams participated in the NSCAA College Showcase in Baltimorefrom November 25-27, with the U-14 and U-15 sides finishing the tournamentunbeaten.


United’sU-14’s were placed in the U-15 age group, where they played against Frederick,Thunder, and pre-academy team South Central. In their first match, United earneda 2-2 draw against Frederick with goals from Owen Marshall and Jordan Dove. Thenext day, Jack Daunt’s strike helped the Black-and-Red draw 1-1 againstThunder. The U-14’s concluded the tournament with a 4-0 win over South Centralbehind goals from Owen Marshall, Jose Mejia, Jon Bell and Gavin Boyer.


United’s U-15 side faced Freestate, Pachuca, and SouthCentral. In their first match, United defeated Freestate 4-0 with goals fromFola Adetola, Mike Monahan, Andrew Ferman and Alberto Polo-Herrera. TheBlack-and-Red continued with a 5-0 win against Pachuca with a brace fromGregory Snigur and goals from Jimmy Filerman, Fola Adetola and Julian Dove.Finally, United finished the tournament with a 4-1 victory against SouthCentral with tallies from Julian Dove, Jimmy Filerman and a brace from GraydonHester. 

“Overall,it was a great weekend to get some minutes on the field and stay fresh for theclose of the fall season,” said United Pre-Academy Coordinator and U-15 HeadCoach Tom Torres. “We appreciate Elite Tournaments and the NSCAA BaltimoreShowcase for letting our groups play.” 


“InD.C. United Pre-Academy’s second year, we are seeing progress, month-to-month,”continued Torres. “The boys are showing their commitment and displaying anunderstanding of the system they are being trained in. Regardless of theresults, both groups displayed a positive performance.”
