Training notes: Dallas arrival

Fred - BIO - 2011

DALLAS ARRIVAL

D.C. United arrived in Dallas on Friday afternoon to incredibly hot conditions, with the temperature reading a steamy 103 degrees. With temperatures expected to be in the mid-90s at kickoff Saturday evening, the heat is sure to play a factor in the contest at Pizza Hut Park. One player, in particular, seemed unreasonably happy to encounter the warmer weather, as Brazilian midfielder Fred was heard to say "this is more like it," as the team boarded the bus for the hotel.

MORE FRED
While tomorrow's match against FC Dallas was set to be Fred's final contest with the Black-and-Red - before his transfer to Melbourne Heart of Australia's A-Leauge - it was determined today that the fans at RFK will have one final chance to say goodbye to the Brazilian. With a host of recent injuries to key players, General Manager Dave Kasper made the request of Melbourne to allow Fred the opportunity to participate in Wednesday's home fixture against the New England Revolution. The A-League club granted the request without hesitation, providing United supporters a final glimpse of the fan-favorite.
INJURY UPDATE

Forward Josh Wolff is listed as questionable in today's injury report and is nursing a strained hamstring. Defender Dejan Jakovic continued to see time with the first team this week and is listed as probable after making progress following a strained hamstring suffered while with the Canadian National Team in early June. Blake Brettschneider (concussion), Jed Zayner (knee sprain), Devon McTavish (concussion), Santino Quaranta (concussion) and Brandon Barklage (concussion) remain out, while defender Marc Burch (hamstring strain) is listed as questionable.
