The United Soccer Club “Spring Kick” Tournament was held Friday, June 3 from 4:30-7:15 p.m. on the RFK Stadium Training Field. The event brought together over 200 participants in the culmination of a ten-week training program focused on teaching the participants the importance of a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and proper nutrition, as well as life skills that are beneficial on and off the field.The day was highlighted by well-played matches, player autographs from D.C. United defender Jed Zayner carnival games, music, and a healthy meal. The day’s focus was on sportsmanship and all players were rewarded with a trophy for participation.
As part of this year’s tournament, D.C. United has teamed up with the One World Futbol Project and Social(k), and tournament participants will played using the One World Futbol—the world’s first, ultra-durable, all-terrain ball.
The second “Spring Kick” Tournament will be held June 10th for approximately 600 additional participants.
