Collin Martin vs NE Reserves - 2011 reserves

WASHINGTON — D.C. United rallied from a two-goal deficit to snatch a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution in MLS Reserve League action.

Kenny Mansally's brace staked the Revolution to a two-goal lead, but second half goals by Joseph Ngwenya and Academy player Collin Martin led the comeback for D.C.

After a slow start to the proceedings, D.C. began to control possession, and looked to create chances going forward. The best chance of the first half came in the 13th minute. Forward Charlie Davies got behind the Revolution back line and crossed the ball back into the box, but midfielder Mikias Eticha's shot was straight at Tim Murray.

The Revolution took the lead in the 28th minute. D.C. midfield Conor Shonosky was whistled for a foul in the United box, as he was jumping to clear a cross and collided with midfielder Pat Phelan. New England's Mansally converted the spot kick to give New England the lead.

Looking for the equalizer, D.C. controlled possession into the second half, pressing forward to try and draw level. Midfielder Cody Albrecht had a chance in the 59th minute, but his chipped shot hit Bobby Shuttleworth's crossbar.

New England doubled the lead shortly thereafter in the 65th minute off a direct free kick. It was Mansally who tallied again, curling a shot in from 30 yards out with his left foot, into the upper corner of the net, past D.C. goalie Joe Willis.

Joseph Ngwenya pulled one back for the home side five minutes later. Substitute Tyler Rudy‚s long ball beat the Revolution back line, and Ngwenya ran onto the ball and slotted past Shuttleworth.

Substitute Academy player Collin Martin equalized in the 82nd minute with a strong individual effort, beating a Revolution defender and smashing a low shot past Shuttleworth to tie the game.
