WAGS Weekend Six Preview

WAGS

Another weekend of games awaits the area as we head into the sixth week of WAGS play. At this point, many of the divisions have clear leaders, but several of them still remain a tightly contested race to the finish.

U-19 and High School

The McLean Fusion have High School Division 1 locked up by now, as the squad is undefeated in seven games. Their closest challenger is the Crofton Wolves, and considering they only have 11 points in six games, they're hardly a threat. The Fusion play the LMVS Patriots on Saturday and the DSC Sparks on Sunday, and should remain undefeated.

Division 2, on the other hand, has become a race between the VIST Fury and the FCV Courage. Currently, the Courage lead with 12 points, but the Fury have played one less game and have ten points. The squads face off against each other on Saturday, and the outcome of the game will play a huge role in who will come out of the season on top. The Courage will play the DSC Dragons on Sunday, and the Fury will play the DCST Heat. Two wins by the Courage or Fury this weekend would make either team difficult to catch.

In U-19 Division 3, the SSA Eagles have ten points, and will look for a win against the DSC Freedom on Sunday to keep the lead in the division. The Freedom is currently in second with seven points, and will be looking to tie things up.

Division 4 has five teams at the top of the table, with the DCST Blast and SAC United Premier Azzuri leading the way with 13 points each. The CSA Eclipse, Calverton Tornadoes and the SMU Furies are all within striking distance. Eclipse plays the Tornadoes on Sunday, and the Azzuri will take on the Blast. The end of match play this weekend should provide the division a clear leader.

Division 1

The U-14 division has Loudoun 96G Red and Freestate Storm tied with ten points each. Loudoun has a chance to take the lead this weekend if they can beat Bethesda Eintracht on Sunday. The Storm do not play until next weekend.

SAC United Premier and SYA FCV lead the field with ten points each in U-13 Division 1, but several teams are close behind with eight or seven points.

Premier plays the MSC Coyotes Green on Sunday, and FCV takes on Loudoun 97G Red.

Four teams are in contention in U-12 Division 1, but Loudoun 98G Red and BRYC Elite are holding the top spot with 12 points each. Both teams are undefeated in four games. The VSA Heat and the VYS Thunder Black are right behind with 11 points.

Loudoun has two games this weekend, and will play the PWSI Courage Red, who recently knocked them out of State Cup play, on Saturday, then the FASA Elite Impact on Sunday. The Elite will take on the Thunder on Sunday, and the Thunder also play the TSW Thunder Siafu on Saturday. The Heat have two games, against the Stafford Revolution Blue on Saturday and the ASA Arundel Azzurri on Sunday.

U-15 - U-17

The MSC Pride lead U-17 Division 3 with 13 points, and they have two games this weekend, against the Arlington Intensity Red, in third with eight points, and the GRFL Extreme, in second with nine points. If they can win both games, they'll have a solid hold on the division.

Laurel Dynasty Premier and ABGC Annandale Fury are tied with 18 points in U-17 Division 4, though the Premier are undefeated in six games and the Fury have one loss. The Premier play the BAC Inferno, and the Fury take on the MD Rush Swoosh, both on Sunday.

In U-16 Division 3, the SAC United I Wolves are undefeated in four games and lead the division with 12 points. They face the Arlington Explosion White on Sunday, whom they've already beaten earlier this year.

The SMU Storm and the VSA Heat Gold are tied for first with 12 points in Division 4, and they face each other on Saturday. The Storm is currently undefeated, while the Gold has two losses. A win here by the Storm will give them a solid grasp on the division.

Loudoun 95G Red stormed to the lead in U-15 Division 2 after two big wins last weekend. They'll look to add another three points when they face the CYA Comets on Sunday. The McLean Green Fury, currently two points behind Loudoun, have a chance to pass them if they can win both their matches, against the TSC Thunder Strikers on Saturday and the Arlington Flame on Sunday.

In U-15 Division 3, the Herndon Curve and FASA Elite face off on Sunday. The Elite is currently leading the division with 13 points, but the Curve are close behind with 12.
