WAGS Second Weekend Report

WAGS

Due to the copious amounts of rain that fell on the region last week, many WAGS games were rescheduled this past weekend due to wet fields. However, several games were contested despite the less-than-ideal conditions, which pushed several teams to the top of their leader boards.

Division 1 Action

There are no clear leaders in Under-14 Division 1 after the second weekend of play, with three teams, LOUD 96G Red, BETH Eintracht and FREE Storm all sitting on four points after winning one game and tying another. The Storm tied Eintract 2-2 on opening weekend, but Loudoun has yet to play either team.

PSWI Courage '97 Red leads the way in U-13 Division 1 with 5 points, but they've only won one game. SYA FCV 97 and SAC United Premier have also won one game, and have yet to play their second matches.

In U-12 division 1, LOUD 98G Red has some competition now that more games have been completed. While the Loudoun squad remains undefeated, the VSA Heat has passed them in points by pulling off a 1-0 win this Sunday against the TSC Thunder Siafu. SAC Premier bounced back from a 4-0 loss to BRYC 98 Elite last week to win against the FASA Elite Impact 2-1 on Sunday, giving them six points.

High School Divisions

In division 1, MCLN Fusion has been unbeatable at this point, winning all three of their games including two matches this weekend. They defeated ASC Premier Gold on Saturday 2-0, then turned around and won 2-0 against DSC Sparks. CRFT Wolves and LMVS Patriots might be able to catch them, but they are five points behind after playing two games each.

Division 2 action finally gave us a leader of the pack in the CHAN FCV Courage squad, who is the only team in the division with two wins.

U-19

While U-19 division 3 remains wide open, with LUYAA SC Intensity the only squad with a win under their belts, Division 4 now has two strong teams at the top of their brackets.

The CALV Tornadoes and the SAC United Premier Azzuri teams both won their first two games, and have settled on the top of the leader board. The two squads face off next Sunday.

U-17

CRFT Kixx, ARL Arlington Intensity Red and MSC Pride all have wins under their belts, but the division remains wide open after the first two weekends of play.

Division 5 will be one of the hotly contested brackets, with four teams riding on six points after the first two weeks of play. LAUR Laurel Dynasty Premier, FRED FC Frederick Royal, ABGC Annandale Fury and the HERN Magic squads are all sitting at the top.

After losing 1-0 last weekend to the Frederick Royals, HERN Magic gets the comeback award for wining their Sunday match 8-1 against MD Rush 93 Swoosh.

U-16

In Division 3, SAC United Wolves lead the way with two wins, one of which they captured on Sunday after defeating ARL Explosion White 1-0.

Division 4 action carried the SMU Storm and the VSA Heat Gold to the top of the charts after both squads won on Sunday.

The OLNY Spartans and the Vista BC United teams lead the way in Division 5 with seven points each. The two squads play each other next Sunday.

U-15

VSA Heat Gold are leading the way with seven points in Division 2, but the OLNY Cyclones White are right behind them with six points. The squads tied 1-1 on Saturday.

Division 3 teams haven't seen much action yet, but three squads, the HERN Curve, SAC United I and ALEX Freedom all have one win to their names.

In Division 4, LUYAA SC Fusion and the DAA Lady Gators both have two wins, but the rest of the division remains wide open, with several squads riding on three or four points.

CYA Comets Purple lead the way in division 5 with seven points, while ARL Blast are close behind with six points. All but two of the remaining teams have points on the board, which should make this division a nailbiter to the finish.
