We'll shortly announce that the club has signed defender Lawson Vaughn. The 25-year old has been training with the team for several days and will take the place of defender Greg Janicki, who has been put on the disabled list with back spasms.

Vaughn spent three and a half seasons as a member of Chivas USA, before being waived earlier this year. Since his rookie season in 2006, the Marietta, Georgia native played in 48 League games (40 starts), with a goal and three assists. His best season with Chivas USA came in 2007 when he played in 24 games (22 starts), totaling 1,901 minutes on the pitch, and notched a goal and two assists. While in LA, he also played in three playoff games (all starts).

In college, Vaughn began his career at the University of South Carolina before transferring to the University of Tulsa. In four seasons, he played in 88 games (86 starts), totaling six goals and 14 helpers.

Here's what General Manager Dave Kasper had to say about Vaughn joining the team:

"Lawson is a player who has several years of experience playing in our League. He will provide us with an additional option in the back line and we look forward to having him on board."
