Champions League game #5: DCU 0 - Cruz Azul 2

What can you say about the second yellow card given to James Thorpe?  Un-be-liev-able.  The poor kid gets his first real shot and the referee snatches it from him in the first half.  He was coming up with a few big saves early on, too.  And, for the second time in as many games, our opponent continues to play despite an injured player down on the field (and the referee refuses to stop play again?) - this time even more blatant than the last.  What is going on?

Well, regardless of how we got there, that does it - next week's game against CD Marathon is rendered meaningless, at least in the sense that United cannot advance to the next round.  As Tom Soehn said after the Deportivo Saprissa game, the team will be happy to play the role of spoiler.

Now, the team will turn its complete focus to preparing for Sunday's regular season finale in Columbus, while also monitoring the New York (@ Chicago on Thursday) and Kansas City (@ New England on Saturday) games.

We may or may not have post-game quotes from Mexico City (Boris Flores is with the team and was having internet issues), but check-in tomorrow for the latest.
