United have announced that they will host an NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer match between the University of Maryland and the University of Virginia on Sept. 2 at the Black-and-Red's new state-of-the-art, soccer-specific stadium at Audi Field in the first-ever collegiate match at the venue.

“We’re excited to host two elite collegiate soccer programs at our new home at Audi Field in September,” said D.C. United president of business operations Tom Hunt. “The two soccer programs have a long history with the club and we’re thrilled that they will have the opportunity to play at Audi Field; the new home for soccer in the nation’s capital.”

The Black-and-Red currently have three former Maryland Terrapins on their roster with Taylor Kemp (2009-2012), Patrick Mullins (2010-2013) and Chris Odoi-Atsem (2013-2016). Head coach Ben Olsen played for the University of Virginia from 1995 to 1997 before he was allocated to United as a Project-40 (now known as Generation adidas) player on Dec. 27, 1997.

Tickets are available to purchase through an exclusive presale for D.C. United Season Ticket Members at a discounted rate. Season Ticket Members will receive an e-mail with a link and promotional code to purchase tickets.
Tickets for the match will be available to the general public for purchase through Ticketmaster starting Friday, May 25 at 10:00 AM ET.

United also announced on April 26 that Audi Field will host its first women’s professional soccer match when the Washington Spirit face reigning National Women’s Soccer League Champion Portland Thorns FC on Aug. 25.

Audi Field, the first soccer-specific stadium to be constructed in the District, will feature a total capacity of 20,000 seats, 1,500 club seats, 31 luxury suites and a bike valet along with 500,000 total square feet of mixed-use retail and residential space on site.
