D.C. United have announced the hiring of Rodrigo Robles as Director of South American Scouting. Robles, who joins the Technical Staff from Chilean top-flight club O’Higgins FC, will lead United’s scouting effort in South America and work to identify and recruit new talent from the region.

"We are pleased to add Rodrigo to a key strategic role as we continue to expand our soccer operations department,” Dave Kasper, United general manager and VP of soccer operations, said. “His extensive knowledge of the South American soccer landscape will be a key resource as we look to grow our scouting efforts in the region.”

Robles joins United’s Technical Staff after six years with O’Higgins FC of the Chilean Campeonato Nacional, Chile’s top flight soccer league. A Chilean native, Robles joined O’Higgins FC in 2013 and helped build a team that finished first in that season’s Torneo de Apertura 2013. It was the first championship in the club’s history.

During his tenure, O’Higgins has won the Chilean league title (2013), the Supercopa de Chile (2014), qualified for the 2013 Copa Libertadores tournament, and the 2016 and 2017 Copa Sudamericana tournament.

Robles has managed soccer operations for the club, including player acquisitions, domestic and international scouting, and management of the first and youth teams.

Robles graduated with an MBA from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in 2010.
