United Builds: Volunteering at Simon Elementary School

United Builds at Simon Elementary - August 2011

Over 30 volunteers from D.C. United's United Builds program participated in DC Public Schools' Beautification Day on Saturday, August 20, 2011 by volunteering at Simon Elementary School in Anacostia.

Front office staff and fans of the Black-and-Red painted exterior doors and playground structures, picked up litter, removed weeds, mulched and planted flowers to beautify Simon Elementary.

D.C. United and United for D.C. participate annually in DCPS Beautification Day to reinforce the club's commitment to the DC community and to highlight the importance of education. Simon Elementary is also part of the club's United Reads program. United for D.C. has been donating books to the school since 2009.
