Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the region’s leading source for multiplatform sports coverage, along with D.C. United today announced plans to air encore presentations of five memorable D.C. United matches June 10-14 as a part of D.C. United Rivalry Week. The special five-game series will feature classic matches against heated rivals spanning the 17-year history of the Black-and-Red.
Set for Sunday, June 10 at 7 p.m. ET, D.C. United Rivalry Week begins with an encore presentation of D.C. United’s classic match versus the Chicago Fire from July 18, 1998. Four additional memorable matches against New York, Columbus and Philadelphia will air in advance of the club’s return to current MLS play on Saturday, June 16, when United travels to Philadelphia for a match against the Union. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and will be carried live on Comcast SportsNet.

Sunday, June 10 at 7:00 PM ET
D.C. United vs. Chicago Fire (July 18, 1998)
Roy Lassiter scored three times and Jaime Moreno added a fourth as D.C. United thrashed the Fire 4-1 at RFK Stadium. The Black-and-Red conceded a goal in the 38th minute to fall behind its Eastern Conference rivals, but responded with an offensive onslaught. The 1998 edition of D.C. United would finish the campaign hoisting the CONCACAF Champions Cup and the InterAmerican Cup.

D.C. United vs. Philadelphia Union (August 22, 2010)
A Danny Allsopp brace was all D.C. United would need to secure a 2-0 win over its new rivals to the north. The Australain striker took advantage of a Union miscue in the 22nd minute and buried his chance to open the scoring. United doubled the lead in the 62nd minute as Pablo Hernandez stepped over a dangerous cross from Andy Najar, allowing the ball to find its way to a wide open Allsopp for the finish.

D.C. United vs. New York/New Jersey MetroStars (July 3, 2004)
D.C. United’s offense provided holiday fireworks a day early, dropping a jaw-dropping six goals on its fiercest of rivals. Alecko Eskandarian tallied twice and was joined on the score sheet by Ryan Nelsen, Jaime Moreno, Earnie Stewart and Ben Olsen in the 6-2 drubbing that saw United take over first place in the Eastern Conference. United would finish the season lifting the 2004 MLS Cup.

D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew (May 31, 2006)
It didn’t take long for Jaime Moreno to score his 100th MLS goal, as the iconic striker slotted home a penalty kick just eight minutes into the game. D.C. United would beat the Crew defense four more times on the night en route to a 5-1 win. The Black-and-Red benefitted from an own goal before adding tallies from Josh Gros, Alecko Eskandarian and Lucio Filomeno. The Black-and-Red earned the Supporters’ Shield in 2007, finishing the season 15-7-10, 55 points.

D.C. United vs. New York/New Jersey MetroStars (October 1, 2005)
A Ben Olsen brace and a stunning goal from Jaime Moreno were the difference as D.C. United trashed its fiercest rivals on their home turf 4-1. The four-goal outburst came after Metros forward Mike Magee put the home team up 1-0 in the 19th minute for lead that would stand at halftime. A Jeff Agoos own goal set the second half tone in the 47th minute, and was followed by two Ben Olsen tallies. In the 87th minute, Jaime Moreno put the exclamation point on the match, taking on nearly the entire MetroStars back line, slipping the ball between Agoos’ legs and slotting the ball into the back of the net.
