D.C. United lost their first road game of the season at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota against the Loons, 1-0. Angelo Rodriguez redirected a cross from Romaine Metanire in the 82nd minute of the game to win the contest.


Throughout the first half, both teams spent an equal amount of time in the attacking halves.  There were chances for both DCU and Minnesota to get on the board. Lucas Rodriguez nearly finished in the 20th minute of the match. He collected the ball on the outskirts of the 18, rifled a shot to Vito Mannoneā€™s left, Minnesotaā€™s keeper sprung to make the save


Following the Rodriguez shot, Homegrown defender, Donovan Pines headed a cross from Wayne Rooney into the net. Moments after celebrating Pinesā€™ goal, after VAR review the goal was back due to a foul on Minnesotaā€™s goalie, Vito Mannone from Fred Brillant. Both teams went into the first half level at 0-0.

Ulises Segura entered the game for Leo Jara, to start the second half. Minnesota United gained momentum in the second half keeping possession and testing the United backline. Bill Hamid made multiple saves to keep United in the match starting in the 60th minute of the match. Miguel Ibarra took a shot from inside the box and Hamid rose up and swiped it away with his right hand.

In the 74th Minnesota launched a cross inside the box, Hamid came off his line and deflected the ball away safely. Zoltan Stieber and Quincy Amarikwa entered the game in the latter stages of the second half to add some fresh legs to match. In the 82nd minute of contest, Minnesota Unitedā€™s Rodriguez made a run across the front of Unitedā€™s net and deflected a cross into the net for the gameā€™s only goal. The game finished 1-0 Minnesota for the Loonsā€™ first home victory at the brand new Allianz Field.
