Head coach Ben Olsen

On the match...
“I thought overall we were good and we deserved more out of the game but that doesn’t do anything for us right now. But, for long stretches I thought we were a very good team. We put them under pressure and created a lot of chances. Anytime we score three goals at home, we should walk away with three points.”

On Luciano Acosta’s performance…
“It’s just what he’s been doing lately. He was the same handful throughout and now he’s added maturity to his game defensively. He’s obviously sparked a good relationship with Wayne [Rooney] and now he’s finishing out plays… whether that’s the final ball or scoring goals himself. He’s evolved over the last two months and it’s been a real joy to watch.”

On conceding the equalizer after Acosta’s goal…
“It was such a great individual goal that it deserved to be the game winner. We didn’t do well enough in the moments in and around the box and you need to do that against the Red Bulls. They keep coming at you and they’re going to get chances. You have to be on your toes in every moment and you can’t be casual... a few moments cost us today.”

On his feeling about the team’s current standing…
“I’m not comfortable and our team’s not comfortable but we are confident in our ability to get into the postseason if we play like we did tonight and clean up some of the moments that let us down. If that’s the second-best team in the east then I like our chances if we get into the playoffs.”

Goalkeeper Bill Hamid

On the team's current position in the standings…
“I think we’re in a good position right now. The promise has been good, I think the way that we’re playing has been good if you look at the way we started this game today, I think it was solid from defense, forward. We’ve got Montreal next, we’ve got a game in hand over them, then we play Chicago at home. So we’re in a good position right now, we’ve just got to keep pushing forward, keep the positivity, keep the right mentality in training and we can do this.”

On the atmosphere for this late season match at Audi Field against New York…
“Obviously it’s a new facility so a lot more people will come. And then it’s a derby, it’s a big match for both cities, both teams, both organizations, so the atmosphere is never disappointing. It’s always going to be a rough one, home or away, and both sets of fans brought it today.”

Forward Wayne Rooney

On a disappointing draw...
"Similar to the game against New York City, we were 3-2 up and we conceded the equalizer, so it feels like defeat again. But, on a positive note, we've played the top three teams in the league and we've shown real quality against them/. I think today was a fantastic game for the league in itself. Great advertisement for MLS. Disappointing in the end, but the playoff spot is still in our hands. We have the game in hand where we can go above them so we have to try to take the positives from that."

On playoff hopes...
"We're on the verge of a play off spot. Today was a bit of a setback. It was a tough game against the top of the table and it depends how you look at it. Sometimes you have to take the point and points add up at the end of the season. As I said before, we play Montreal next game so it's a big incentive for us to go and win that game. It's back in our hands. Of course we'd have liked to win, but we're still where we want to be. Hopefully we can win the next game and be in a better position."

On having 13 days until the game against Montreal...
"
I think it can work either way. It can help or it can affect a good run of momentum. Maybe it would've been nice to play next week. I think for the lads, we've had a lot of games recently. I think the break will do us well—get a few days rest, get some good training, so we can prepare. We've got a whole week to prepare for the Montreal game."

Midfielder Russell Canouse

On what could have been a win...
"Obviously 3-3 result against Red Bull isn't bad if you just look at the result, but if you look at the game, how we went up two times, late in the game and gave up two goals, no matter what happened based on the goals — could've been mistake, someone was down, handball in the box — there's lots of things that could've gone differently but still we had chances to finish out the game, we didn't do it, and it's really disappointing. I think everyone understands that right now. Still we'll take the point right now."

On playoff chances...
"I think everyone knows that we can make a run. I think everyone believes it too that we can get in that sixth-place playoff spot even now with Philly beating Montreal, it opens up a fifth-place spot. It's a couple points away. We have it in our hands right now. We can win a couple games and obviously, it looks completely different. It's a tight race; there's a lot of pressure on all the games we have coming up but I think guys know that it's possible and that we can do it."

On the game against Montreal...
"The game against Montreal is massive. I think that's obviously one of the most important games of the season, if not the most important. You look at today, you can say the same thing, but obviously Montreal is one spot ahead of us. We need to get all three points against them and take advantage of that game."
