D.C. United fell 4-0 to Inter Miami CF on the road at Nu Stadium on Saturday night. Facing a Miami attack led by Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, who each scored a brace, the Black-and-Red created chances early and matched the home side in shots (six) and shots on target (two) through the opening 38 minutes. Forward Tai Baribo returned to the starting lineup following international duty and forced a diving save from Dayne St. Clair in the 16th minute, while midfielder Hosei Kijima tested the Miami goalkeeper inside the opening 10 minutes. Goalkeeper Sean Johnson made five saves on the night, including a reflex stop on Suárez that he pushed onto the post before clearing it off the line. In the 12th all-time meeting between the clubs, D.C. United continued to battle through the final whistle. The Black-and-Red will look to bounce back when they return to Audi Field to host the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, October 14.
