Luis Silva netted a beautiful strike in the 8th minute of Saturday’s match, putting the Black-and-Red up 1-0 over the New England Revolution. This was Silva’s second goal for D.C. United in just two games; only 40 minutes of play passed between goals. Both strikes were from a considerable distance as well, combining for a total of 55 yards.


2 MLS debuts
Two of D.C. United’s newest members got their first starts in MLS. Jared Jeffrey went 79 minutes, helping John Thorrington control the midfield and keep possession. Conor Doyle started at forward for the Black-and-Red with Luis Silva. Doyle played 66 minutes and had one shot.


6 minutes of inspiration
Everyone present on Saturday night witnessed one of the most inspiring moments to happen at RFK. Kevin Alston appeared in his first match since being diagnosed with Leukemia. Alston's last MLS appearance was in late March until last Saturday. The talented defender featured for the final six minutes of the match.
